We are all glad to be back at school after a wonderful
Christmas break. Thanks to all who
helped to make our Christmas party so special, and thanks to Isley’s grandmother
for providing the treat bags for both classes.
In Phonics/Language we will read Happy Birthday by
Dr. Seuss and practice identifying rhyming words. We will also practice Narration with “Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs” from The Original Fairy Tales of the Brothers
Grimm. We will also begin to recite
“The Snowflake” by Walter de la Mare.
In Music/Art, we will learn to sing “A Fox Went Out On A
Chilly Night”
(a folk song) along with the book. The children will work on
creating Snowflakes to display in the hall. They will also make Happy New Year
glasses.
In History we will read about the life of Milton Hershey.
In Math, we will practice counting and grouping, and
addition and subtraction with Hershey’s kisses.
In Bible we will read
about the Good Samaritan and talk about what it means to be good to
others. The children will practice doing
good to others in class and discuss their experiences in circle.
