This week
in Phonics/Language we will continue to practice narration with Snow White and
the Seven Dwarfs from Original Tales from the Brothers Grimm. We will also read First Snow. The children will make a W-H-I-T-E book and
practice writing letter “s” on their little chalkboards. They will make a “k” and “l” with playdoh,
and we will review the letters g-l by playing Toss and Tell.
In
Nature/Science we will read about Sharks in Exploring Creation and in The
Best Book of Sharks. We will
work with Montessori Exercises for the Thermic Sense as we begin to learn about
the Sense of Touch. We will also perform
an experiment with ice cubes.
In Art, the
children will create Snowman Puppets, work on shark sculptures, and paint at
the easel. They will also sketch Swiss
Chard and Cabbage.
In History
we will begin to read about Alexander Graham Bell.
In Math we
will work with pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.In Bible we will read “A Rich Farmer Forgets God” in The Bible in Pictures and “The Treasure and the Pearl” in The Beginner’s Bible. We will listen to a Social Story entitled “Starting a Conversation”. We will also continue to encourage the children to “do good to others” like the Good Samaritan. They will share their “Caught Doing Good” stories in circle on Thursday.
We will be
going to Casa Manana to see Charlotte’s Web on Tuesday, January 27. We will leave at 9:30. The play begins at 10:30. Please let us know
