February 9-12

 

This week in Phonics/Language we will practice narration with Owl Moon/  The children will practice writing m’s, n’s, and o’s on their little chalkboards.  We will also practice identifying rhyming words as we read On Beyond Zebra by Dr. Seuss. 
In History, we will begin to read A Picture Book of Louis Braille.
In Science, we will read about Triops (Sea Monkeys) and place Triops eggs in our aquarium to observe.  We will read about Triops  in Exploring Creation.  We will read about Sea Snails, Conchs, and Moon Snails.  We will also visit the garden and plant bulbs this week.

In Music/Art, we will learn “I’m Gonna Sing”, and practice singing the other Spirituals that we have learned.  The children will decorate their Valentine holders and make Valentine people.  They will also work on creating Valentine cards.

 In Bible, we will read about the friendship of David and Jonathan.  The children will also make a friendship chain, and we will talk about showing love and kindness to our friends.

Our Valentine party will be this Thursday, February 12, at 3:00.  Please send 10 valentines for your child to exchange with the other children.  They may also bring valentines to exchange with Mrs. Hague’s class if they want (8 children).  Please have your child sign them and have them ready to pass into the Valentine holders on Thursday morning.
