This
week in Nature/Science, we will finish our unit on mollusks as we read about
Moon Snails and Abalones. We will
complete an experiment to demonstrate Resonance, and the children will use
shells and clay to create a Mollusk for their Ocean Boxes. We will also begin to read about
Cephalopods. We are also planning to use
cheerios to make little birdfeeders to place near the gardens this week.
In Phonics/Language, we will practice
narration as we read “The Princess on the Pea” from The Classic Treasury of
Hans Christian Andersen. The
children will make a “P” with Playdoh, and we will review our letters “a”
through “p”. We will also make a “P”
with peas.In Bible, we will read from Matthew 21:33-44 and learn about how “They Lost Their Chance” from The Bible in Pictures. We will practice singing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” and “Open the Window, Noah” along with many other Spirituals that we have learned.
In History, we will read about Harriet Tubman and Booker T. Washington. The children will color pictures of them for their portfolios.
In Art, the children will create a sketch of an Amaryllis and begin to work on a painting to be exhibited at Barnes and Noble on Thursday, March 5. Our group will perform at 4;00.
We have play practice next Thursday
morning from 9:30 to 10:00….
