March 17-20

This week in Nature/Science we will read about Platform Nesters, Cup Nesters, and Unusual Nests. We are also planning to celebrate the first day of Spring (March 20) by designing an experiment that tests which materials that the birds like the best. Please send an item that a bird might use for nesting material by Thursday, March 20. We will also plant radish seeds into the garden. In Social Studies we will continue to read about Paul Revere. In Phonics/Language we will continue practicing narration with The Three Little Pigs. We will also work on pig houses and act out the story this week. We will practice forming the letters r and s with playdoh, and the children will work to sort objects beginning with r and s into letter tubs. In Math, we will work with pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters in circle. We will also begin to work with liquid measurement in pouring center. In Music/Art we are planning to "Listen and Move" with parachute. We are continuing to learn and practice new motions to "Up Went the Spider". In Bible we will read from Genesis 2 and learn about how Jacob dreamed about a ladder with Angels. We will also read about Jacob in The Bible In Pictures. We will learn about a how the people of Ireland celebrate St. Patrick's Day. We will also read about leprechauns and what their job is in the fairy world.
