This week in Nature/Science we will learn about Flying Reptiles and read about Pterosaurs in Exploring Creation. We will read “You Hear With Your Ears” as we begin to learn about the Five Senses. We are also planning to play a hearing lotto game called “Animal Sounds”. In Phonics/Language we will practice narration with The Ugly Duckling and learn the Ugly Duckling song. The children will practice matching pictures as we play “Rhyme Time” in circle. They will also practice listening for short “a’s” and sorting objects beginning with J and K into letter tubs. In Bible, we will read from Matthew 14 and learn about how Peter’s lack of faith prevented him from walking on water. We will also read “Faith in the Bible” and “Faith at Home” from A Child’s Book of Character Building. In Music we will begin to learn “Oh, Susanna”. We will sing “Gimme, Gimme Ice Cream” and learn the signs for the words. We will also listen to “The Hat” by Jan Brett. In Social Studies we will read “Strangers and Saints in Plymouth” from The Story of the World. We are also planning to build a ship and take a voyage to the New World in the Motor Lab.
