January 13-16

This week in Phonics/Language we will finish narration of The Ugly Duckling and watch a movie about the storyteller, Hans Christian Anderson. We will play “Hot Potato” with Explode the Code objects a through l. We will also play a rhyming game in circle. In Nature/Science we will read “Types of Pterosaurs” in Exploring Creation. We will also read “Air, Water, and Solids” and do an experiment to compare sounds heard in the air and through water. In Social Studies we will learn about Henry Hudson, The Dutch in the New World, and The Plymouth Plantation. In Bible, we will read “Faith at School” and “Faith at Play” from A Child’s Book of Character Building. We will also read Luke 12:6-8 and learn that God has not forgotten even the smallest sparrow. In Music, we are learning “Oh, Susanna” and Gimme, Gimme Ice Cream”. We are also planning to play a “sounds on the Farm” Listening Lotto as part of our study of the 5 senses.
