September 23-26

This week in Nature/Science we will begin to learn about butterflies and pretend to be Lepidopterists. We will read excerpts from Nomads of the Wind and learn about the migration of the Monarch butterfly. We will read “Butterflies” in our Christian Liberty Nature Reader, and the children will examine a model of the butterfly life cycle. We will also read about butterfly migration in Exploring Creation. In Social Studies we will read from Jobs and learn about Executives, Mechanics, Nurses, Teachers, Authors, Quarterbacks, and other Community Helpers. The children will also work on a “Community ABC’s book with colored pencils. In Music the children will practice moving slowly and gracefully to Mozart’s “Horn Concerto No. 1 in D Major” and flying quickly to the “Horn Concerto No. 2 in E-Flat Major” with their butterfly wings. In Bible we will begin to learn about Peace (a Fruit of the Spirit) as we read from A Child’s Book of Character Building.
