March 4-7

The children enjoyed acting out the story of Shadrach, Mesach, and Abednigo last week and creating a Belt of Truth. This week, we will read about Jesus in the Garden in the Bible in Pictures. We will learn about the Breastplate of Righteousness as part of our study of the Armor of God. The children will learn that they can trust God to protect their hearts as we play a game called “Heart Hits”. In Nature/Science, we will plant radish seeds to place in the Light Hut for germination. We will learn about how animals sometimes behave like little gardeners as we read from Exploring Creation, and we will read Seed, Soil, Sun. We will read “Mr. Worm at Home” in our Christian Liberty Nature Reader. We are also planning to become familiar with the Night Crawlers in the Nature Room on Thursday. In Phonics/Language, we will trace the letter “S” and practice forming the letter with Playdoh. The children will practice sorting objects beginning with “R” and “S” into letter tubs. We will read Scrambled Eggs Super by Dr. Seuss and practice identifying the rhyming words in the story. We will also make Scrambled Eggs Super in class and sample it during snack time on Thursday. In Music, we will practice parachute grips and positions to use as we play a game called “Wiggling Worms”. We will practice reciting “The Wind” by Robert Louis Stevenson. The children will also continue to work on their Amphora Vessels in Art. School will be closed for Spring Break next week (March 11 – 14). Please mark your calendar for El Chico night (Thursday, March 21). It is always lots of fun for the children, and a special treat for them to be able to eat with their friends. We hope that you have a wonderful Spring Break.
