January 22-24

This week in Nature/Science, we will continue to read about Hummingbirds in Exploring Creation. We are planning to place a Hummingbird feeder outside our classroom. We will also read “The Chickadees” and create bird feeders to place on the Juniper tree near the gardens. In Bible, we will read from Mark 10 about Blind Bartimaeus and from Luke 19 about Zacchaeus. The children will work together to paint a tree and play a game to try to place Zaccheus in the tree while blindfolded. In Social Studies, we will read about the craftsmen of the Reformation and continue to work on our Stained Glass creations that we are planning to display in the hall for Open House. In Phonics/Language we are planning to reinact “The Three Wishes” by the Brothers Grimm for the children that were absent. Many of the children would like to try a different part. We will practice making N’s on our little chalkboards, and tracing and comparing M’s and N’s. The children will also review their letters by playing “Let’s Go Hunting” with Explode the Code objects. In Music/Art, we’re planning to learn a few new moves and follow directions to “The Castle Croc,” from “Castles, Knights, and Unicorns”. We will also be painting at the easel, and some of the children will be finishing up their paintings to be displayed at Barnes and Noble this Thursday, January 24, from 4:00 to 7:00.
