February 4-7

This week in Nature/Science we will begin to read “Fruits” in Exploring Creation and learn that everything that grows from a pollinated flower and contains seeds in considered a fruit. We will play a game in circle to compare and categorize fruits and vegetables. We’re also planning to become familiar with the worms in the Nature Room and read “Mr. Worm at Work” in our Christian Liberty Nature Reader. In Social Studies we will read about HenryVIII, and the children will paint his picture. In Music/Art we will begin to work on a picture study of “The Virgin and Child with St. Anne” by Leonardo da Vinci. We will also begin a recitation of “The Wind” by Robert Louis Stevenson. In Phonics/Language we will read “Little Red Riding Hood” by The Brothers Grimm, sequence the story, and begin to act it out. We will practice tracing the letter “P” and singing “Penelope Pig”. We are also planning to play “Show and Tell” with the Explode the Code objects. Our Valentine Party will be next Thursday, February 14th. Please send 16 Valentines for your child to share with friends. They do not need to be marked with names; the children will pass them directly into the mailboxes that they are planning to make next week. Also, please send $1.00 for a party balloon (please turn in by this Thursday, Feb. 7th).
