Oct. 29-November 1
This week in Nature/Science we will read “Flowers”, “Even the Flowers Will Obey”, and “Making Seeds” in Exploring Creation. We’re also planning to pick flowers in the garden and plant spinach seeds.
In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about the Middle Ages as we read “A Trip to Town “and “Giving A Feast” from Usborne’s Knights and Castles.
In Phonics/Language we will color and sing “Hippo Hop”. We’re planning to make an H with tape in the Motor Lab and practice hopping on it. We will also play Hopscotch in our classroom. We will begin listening to a CD of Chapter 2 of Robin Hood. We will begin to learn “Old King Cole”, “Robin Hood and Little John”, “Banbury Cross”, and “Sing a Song of Sixpence” from The Real Mother Goose.
In Bible, we will read about how Jesus chose his disciples. The children have been interested in learning the names of the disciples, and we are practicing them each day.
In Music/Art, the children will be working with metal to create a fall craft. We are also planning to move to the tempo of Monteverdi’s “O Tessio, O Tessio Mio”.
Our fall party is this Wednesday. The children may come to school in costume (something comfortable is best). You may send a change of clothing if you wish. There are still a few empty spaces on the sign-up sheet for the party that is posted in the hall.
Special thanks to everyone that worked so hard to make the fall festival such a success. It was great, and we all had a wonderful time!
