September 24-27

This week in Nature/Science we will learn about Angiosperms and Gymnosperms. The children will compare and categorize the specimens that we are planning to collect this week. We will also plant carrot and collard seeds. In Phonics/Language we’re planning to sing and recite Nursery Rhymes. This week we will begin to learn “Hickory Dickory Dock”, “Baa Baa Black Sheep”, “Mary Had a Little Lamb”, “Humpty Dumpty”, “Jack and Jill”, “Hey Diddle Diddle”, and “Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater”. We will practice narration with “The Paper and the Ink” by Leonardo da Vinci. We will also practice narration with “Thumbelina” by Hans Christian Anderson, and create a finger puppet to use with our “Thumbelina” song. In Social Studies we will learn about the great Writers and Thinkers of Ancient Rome. The children will work on their own special creations using “invisible ink”. In Music, the children will follow directions to jump, stretch, reach, pull, flap wings, twist, turn, and run on the spot as we listen to “Jump Start for the Queen of Hearts” from “Castles, Knights and Unicorns”.
