April 30-May 2

This week in Nature/Science we will read You Smell With Your Nose. The children will begin to explore their senses of smell as they attempt to smell and match the Montessori canisters. We will read, “A Screw is a Simple Machine” and “The Simple Six” as we work with screws in fine motor. Were planning to harvest and examine the texture of the Broccoli in the garden. The children will create a painting on the easel. We’re also planning to pick blueberries this week. In Social Studies we will read and narrate The Legend of the Bluebonnet. In Phonics/Language we will continue to read stories from Tenggren’s Cowboys and Indians. We will play a parachute game as we review our letters j through r. In Bible we will read “Honesty at School” and “Honesty at Play” and create illustrations of the stories with colored pencils. We are planning a field trip to Veteran’s Park immediately after our play practice on Tuesday, May 8th. We will meet at the practice at 10:30 (see the permission slip attached for the location). We are planning to picnic at the park after our nature hike. Please bring a sack lunch and a drink. Please include a cold pak if you are sending a lunch box (lunch boxes will not fit into my ice chest). A large ziploc bag marked with a name will work best. You may also bring bread for the ducks if you wish.
