This week in Nature/Science we will learn about the lifecycle of the rabbit and other interesting facts as we read Bunny: Watch Me Grow! and The Little Rabbit. We will also go on a texture walk as we continue to learn about the sense of touch. Flopsy (our bunny) will visit the class. We will also harvest carrots from the garden for Flops.
In Phonics/Language we will practice narration with The Tale of Benjamin Bunny by Beatrix Potter. We will also read Hopper and Rabbits and Raindrops. The children will practice making the letter y on their little chalkboards and sort objects beginning with the letters x and y into letter tubs.
In Math we will play a game with sandpaper numbers and Easter eggs. We will also practice using ordinal numbers with eggs.
In Social Studies we will read the story of Echo in Ancient Myths and Legends and learn about using gentle words.
In Bible we will read Easter in the Garden. We will also finish our study of Samuel as we read “The First King” and “A Good Heart”.
In Music/Art we will sing our Easter songs and play a game called “What Can You Do, Mr. Rabbit. The children will create Easter necklaces. They will also collect items and begin to work on textured rubbings as they explore their senses of touch.
Our Easter Egg Hunt will be at 3:00 on Wednesday. Please send 12 filled plastic eggs to hide and tape them shut. Remember to bring an Easter basket.
