April 9-12

This week in Nature/Science we will read You Hear With Your Ears and learn about how sounds travel. The children will continue to work on their texture rubbings. We will plant sweet peppers, begonias, and petunias into the garden. We will also experiment with wedges as we learn about Simple Machines. The children enjoyed reading and narrating the story of Echo last week and talking about echoes. We will read the story of Persephone this week in Social Studies. We will continue to work with ordinal numbers this week in Math. We will also practice measuring items in the classroom. In Phonics/Language we will practice narration with The Tale of Jemima Puddle Duck. We will practice identifying rhyming words as we read The Big Brag by Dr. Seuss. We will also sort objects beginning with Y and Z into letter tubs and play Tic-Tac-Toe. In Bible we will read, “Saul is Chosen to be King”, “David the Shepherd”, “David sings to God”, and “David and Goliath” from The Bible in Pictures. In Music the children will practice marching, waving, clapping, kicking, and snapping their fingers as they follow directions to traditional Greek Music in “A Visit to My Friend” from “Children of the World”.
