This week in Social Studies we will read Dragon Dance and Lion Dancer as we continue to learn about China. We will decorate a Chinese dragon and take turns pretending to be a dragon.
In Phonics/Language we will continue to narrate "The Nightingale" by Hans Christian Anderson. We will practice writing the letter "O" on our little chalkboards and sort objects beginning with "N" and "O". The children will learn that orange begins with "O" and peel and eat Mandarin Oranges with their friends.
In Nature/Science we will read You Taste With Your Tongue. The children will sample various fruits and vegetables, extract the seeds, and practice classifying them (sweet, sour, salty, bitter).
In Art we will read about Monet and work on a picture study of Monet's "The Poppy Field at Argenteuil". The children will also work on thier Valentine holders.
In Music the children will play "I Lost My Valentine", and "Mary Finds a Friend".
In Bible we will learn about the Fruit of the Spirit: Love and read about how Jesus taught everyone to love each other.
Our valentine party will be on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) at 2:30. Please send 15 valentines for your child to give to his/her friends. There is a sign up sheet for the party in the hall.
