November 3-6

This week in Phonics/Language we will begin to practice narration with “The Little Mermaid” from The Classic Treasury of Hans Christian Anderson.  We will also read about Hans Christian Anderson, watch a movie about his life, and color illustrations of the story.  The children will color and sing an O-R-A-N-G-E  book and review the letters a through g.
In Nature/Science we will begin to learn about Aquatic Frogs and Toads in Exploring Creation.  We will also read Frogs, Tale of a Tadpole, and Lifecycle of a Frog. The children will complete the lifecycle of the frog. We are also planning to pick and press flowers this week for our Nature Journals.

In Art/Music we are planning to begin to practice “Over the River and Through the Woods” and other Thanksgiving songs. The children will also work on painting and decorating their Scarecrows.

In History, we will learn about how Elias Howe invented the sewing machine, and the children will work on sewing a button.
In Bible, we will learn about how Solomon was thankful to God for giving him wisdom.  The children will recite Psalms 106:1 and play a game with cards to choose “The Right Choices”.
