September 9-12
This week in Nature/Science we will learn about Habitats and play a game called “What’s That Habitat”. We will also read, “What Makes a Bird a Bird” from Exploring Creation and search for birds with our little binoculars. We will also learn more about our friend Ben-Tu, who is a Sulcata Tortoise, and the children will take turns tossing lettuce to him.
In Social Studies we will read People Who Help Us and Police as we learn about Community Helpers.
In Gardening we are planning to plant flowers into the flower bed at the front of the school.
In Bible we will read “Joyfulness in the Bible” and “Joyfulness at Home” from A Child’s Book of Character Building, and paint illustrations of the stories. We will also read “A Lame Man Walks” from The Bible in Pictures, and try to imagine how joyful he must have felt.
In Music/Art the children will practice skipping to “Skip to My Lou” from the Smithsonian Children’s Collection. We will also begin to paint and create Nature Boxes to use for the little treasures that we find.
We are planning a field trip to the Omni Theatre to see “The Flight of the Buttlerflies” on September 30th.
