March 28-31
The children had fun matching a smell to the proper card and comparing smells in circle last week. This week in Nature/Science the children will take turns clipping and examining twigs on the playground and learning how to determine how old they are. We will also tag some of the branches that we cut and see what happens to them. They will play an herb matching game and compare smells. We will talk about good and bad smells and decide which herbs smell good to us. The children will also work on 5 senses pages for their Nature Journals. In Phonics/Language the children will create a T with twigs. We will also play a sequencing game in circle and sort items beginning with S and T. We are planning to make Stone Soup this week as the children narrate the story. We will begin to cook the soup on Tuesday. Please remember to send your child’s vegetable on Tuesday morning. In Social Studies we will begin to learn about our great state of Texas. We will read the Texas book. In Art the children will use twigs and leaves to paint pictures. In Bible we will learn about how Jonah called out for help from God when he was inside the whale. The children will practice praying for each other and create “care coupons” to give to their friends.
