October 6-9

This week in Nature/Science, we will begin to read about walruses in Exploring Creation.  We will read Awesome Walruses.  We will also learn about the insulating properties of blubber by performing an experiment.
 In Phonics/Language, we will practice reciting parts of the story with a sequence of pictures.  The children will decorate a Sam-I-Am Hat and we will make and sample Green Eggs and Ham on Thursday.

 In Art, we are planning to paint our Seal Sculptures and work on a large walrus.
In Music, the children will practice listening quietly to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.

In Social Studies, we will learn about Eli Whitney and the invention of the Cotton Gin.  We will read about Thomas Edison and the invention of the light bulb, and Luigi Galvani and the invention of the electrical battery.  We will also begin to read,  The Boy Who Invented T.V.
