October 27-30

This week in Phonics / Language we are planning to practice reciting Nursery Rhymes and acting out “Jack and Jill” and “Little Miss Muffet”.  We will also read Bring In the Pumpkins and It’s Pumpkin Time.

In Nature / Science we will finish reading  George, The Giant Tortoise,  and the children will travel outside with their clipboards and create a sketch of Ben-Tu.  We will read The Big, Big Pumpkin and It’s Pumpkin Time and cut open a pumpkin to examine the interior.  We are also planning to press flowers from the Perennial Garden and observe and sketch the Gaura and the Salvia.
In Math, we will count and group Pumpkin Seeds and practice addition and subtraction with Candy Corn.

In Bible, we will read “Two Men Build Houses”, “Jesus  Makes a Dead Man Live”, and “Jesus  Stops a Storm”  in The Bible in Pictures.
We are planning to play Nursery Rhyme Games in the Motor Lab on Thursday morning.  Your child may dress up as a Nursery Rhyme or other favorite character that day.  They may bring a change of clothing if they wish to change before lunch (or they may wear their costume if it is comfortable enough for  a field trip---just let us know when you drop them off that morning).  Please send a lunch for your child to eat at school before we leave (school lunches will not be provided that day since we are eating early).  We will eat lunch at 10:45 and depart for Country Critters at 11:30.  Activities at Country Critters are scheduled from 12:00 to 2:00.  Admission is $7.00 for children and adults.  Please turn in your child’s permission slip and money to Mrs. Hague.
