October 14-16

 

This week, we will begin to learn about the seasons as we read Awesome Autumn and Why Do Leaves Change Color?  We will read “The Ant and The Grasshopper” in Aesop’s Fables.  The children will also practice sorting objects beginning with “s” and “f” into letter tubs and color and sing their b-l-u-e book.

  In Nature/Science we will read Amazing Reptiles and Amphibians and begin to learn about turtles.  We will read Turtle Crossing, Turtle’s Day, and “Aquatic Herps” in Exploring Creation.  We are also planning to plant Parsley seeds into the garden.

In Social Studies, we will finish reading The Boy Who Invented T.V.

In Music we will practice singing “Over In The Meadow” as we sequence the story with pictures.  We will also practice our recitation of “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost.
In Bible, we will read “Jesus Chooses His Helpers, “Jesus Changes Water Into Wine”, and “Men Buy and Sell in God’s House” from The Bible in Pictures.

 In Art we will work on our big walruses and our picture studies.  We are also planning to create a blue painting at the easel.

We will be taking a field trip to Country Critters Farm on Thursday, October 30^th from 12 to 2pm.  We will leave the school at 11:30.  It is $7.00 for adults and children.  Please turn in the money to Mrs. Hague by next Monday, October 20^th.  Let us know if you will be attending the field trip with your child.
