March 31-April 3

This week in Nature/Science we are planning to observe the lifecycle of the Tenebrio beetle. The children will complete and paint the sequence for their Nature Journals. we will compare different types of nests and practice categorizing them in circle. We will also read "A Hummingbird" from our Christian Liberty Nature Reader as we observe a small Hummingbird nest that was collected by Dr. Flint. In Music/Art the children will continue to work on their picture studies. We are planning to practice sketching begonias and marigolds. We will also plant the flowers into the flower bed at the front of the school. We will begin to practice singing "You are My Sunshine", "Home on the Range", and "Yippee Ti Yi Yo". We will also practice recitation with "Foreign Lands" by Robert Louis Stevenson. In Social Studies we will begin to read Through The Wilderness (about Lewis and Clark). In Math we will continue to work with pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters in circle. In Phonics/Language we will act out "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and read "The Fox and the Grapes" (Aesop Fables)
