This week in Nature/Science we will measure the girth of our tree to determine its age. We will compare shapes of leaves and do an experiment as we question why leaves are shaped the way that they are. We will also begin to learn about the human body. We will read What’s Inside My Body. We will introduce the “What’s Inside Me?” Apron and explain that organs are inside of every person. The children will take turns wearing the apron and learning to place the organs in their proper place.
In Social Studies we will read about the plant life and land regions of Texas.
In Bible we will read God Gave Us Seasons and spend time observing the changes in our garden. We are planning to harvest snap peas and strawberries this week. We will read I Can Talk With God and pray for gentleness and kindness this week. The children will practice gentleness and kindness with their friends and with the little animals in the Nature Room.
In Phonics/Language the children will make a y with yarn and practice sorting objects beginning with X and Y into letter tubs. We will finish narrating The Tale of Jemima Puddle Duck and read “The Blind Man and the Lame Man” from Aesop’s Fables. We will also play “Catch It” with Explode the Code objects.
In Math we will introduce Montessori ones, tens, and hundreds blocks (up to one thousand) in circle.
In Art the children will practice mixing colors with fingerpaint.In Music we will play Parachute games outside and blow bubbles as we listen to “The Blue Danube” by Strauss.
